![]() Find a Fez, SplunkTrust members, and ask if you can tag along and listen. Find new friends by sitting with people you don't know at breakfast or lunch. There have been times when we have gathered around someone laptop and solved and issue. But the hallway conf is typically a great way to gain knowledge from people. As u/jrz302 said, plan you sessions ahead of time. Never thought a talk on Regular Expression would be fun but Cary made it. ![]() Look for talks with the title of Clara-fication or anything by Cary Petterborg, aka RegExGuru-CP, for highly entertaining and technical talks. If you look at the SplunkTrust talks, they will typically be technical. There has been an increase in technical talks in the past years. After the success of the BSides Splunk conference, Splunk started to pull talks from it in to the mainĬonference. It was created to help bring technical content to the Splunk conference. The comments about the conference feeling like it is Sales driven is why BSides Splunk was created. Use your time to make connections, and have nice discussions with people around you! The best you can get is at lunch time talking to your neighbor. So don't really have time to have a nice technical conversation.īut enjoy the conf! There are always good sessions, but you can always watch them later. And between talks is mostly just giveaway swag and sales pitches for me. It gets very boring for me when the sessions are, as nobody is around (or just a few). I used to work for Splunk as Principal Engineer (left in 2017) on a lot of core products. (maybe still can answer some questions about KVStore).all container-related stuff (obviously). If you get bored in sessions and want to come over and talk technical about Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker/Podman please do, does not need to be our company-specific (Monitoring Kubernetes, Collectord). Our company is sponsoring conf23 as a partner, so I am going to be there on booth duty. Some good networking can happen at these and if you're paying for drinks at. You can learn a lot just by going to the floor where everyone is and visiting with Ask-the-experts and or hanging out in the community lounge.Īlso, look out for Happy Hours. Some sessions fill up and those who pre-register for them typically get first access. ![]() Definitely recommend planning things out like you said. Last year there was a filter for it but not sure if there will be this year. Look for talks done by members of the SplunkTrust and you can't really go wrong. There are more slots reserved for these kinds of talks now so there is definitely plenty of technical talks now to satisfy someone who is looking for that. ![]() There were a few years where it definitely got a lot more corporate/sales-y but the last 2 years they've gotten more feedback on sessions and some of the more technical sessions have gotten the best feedback. ![]()
